Bespoke software development for trades and service businesses.
Software built around the way your business actually works. Our bespoke software development turns the process you already run into CRMs, quoting tools, booking systems, rotas, client portals and dashboards, connected to the systems you already pay for.
Fixed quote before we start. One-off build fee, then ongoing management from go-live.
Software that fits your business, not the other way round.
Bespoke software, also called custom software, is written for one business and its way of working. Off-the-shelf tools serve thousands of businesses at once, so they make you work their way. Custom software development starts from yours: how you win work, price it, schedule it, deliver it and report on it.
That is where the gains are. The steps that make your business good stop being workarounds, the admin around them disappears, and the software grows with you instead of holding you at the size it was built for.
Trades and service businesses that run on process.
Trades and construction
Roofers, electricians, builders, landscapers and installers with quotes, crews and jobs to run.
Service businesses
Clinics, cleaning companies, property managers, consultancies and agencies with clients, bookings and teams.
Venues and events
Training providers, events businesses and hospitality groups with rotas, stock and bookings across sites.
Signs you have outgrown off-the-shelf software.
Most businesses start on standard tools, and that makes sense. These are the signs the business has moved past them.
Workarounds every day
The team has a list of things the software cannot do and a routine for getting round each one.
Spreadsheets on the side
The real information lives in a spreadsheet next to the system that is meant to hold it.
Paying for what you do not use
You pay for seats, tiers or features nobody needs, to get the one feature you do.
Double entry
Staff copy the same customer, job or invoice details from one tool into another.
A process bent to fit
You changed how you work because the software would not change, and customers notice.
Twelve kinds of bespoke software, built around your way of working.
Bespoke CRM
The problem. Leads arrive by phone, web form, email and ads, then live in an inbox, a notebook and somebody’s memory. Follow-ups slip, and nobody can say which marketing actually brings in paying work.
Why built around you. Generic CRMs ask you to sell their way: their stages, their fields, a price per user. A bespoke CRM records what matters in your business, whether that is a roofing survey, a clinic assessment or a retained consultancy client, and its cost does not climb every time you add a person.
What changes. Every enquiry gets a follow-up, the team works from one record, and you can see cost per booked job by channel.
Often outgrown: HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Capsule, Salesforce, or the customer records inside a job tool.
What we build.
- A pipeline with your stages: enquiry, site visit or consultation, quote or proposal, deposit, booked
- Every enquiry captured automatically from your website, calls and ads, with its source attached
- Reminders and follow-up tasks that fire on your rules, not a generic sequence
- Quotes, jobs and invoices linked to the customer record, with a sync to Xero or QuickBooks
- Booked jobs sent back to Google Ads and Meta, so the platforms optimise towards real work
Five stages, one fixed quote.
How bespoke software development is priced.
Two parts, both agreed in writing before work starts. A quote calculator and a full CRM are different jobs, so we price each build from its scope, and every quote follows this model. Any third-party tools your build connects to, such as Slack, Stripe or an SMS provider, run on your own accounts, and you pay those subscriptions or fees directly.
Every build includes ongoing management, because software needs looking after to keep working as your business and the tools around it change.
- A one-off build fee, which your quote fixes after discovery
- You pay it upfront, or in stages tied to milestones, such as 50/50 or 40/40/20
- A monthly management fee from go-live covering hosting, monitoring, updates, fixes and small improvements
- No fixed minimum term, unless we agree one in writing for your project
- Pay by card or Bacs Direct Debit
- We are not VAT-registered, so we add no VAT
Who owns the code, and who owns the data.
We agree code ownership per project and write it into your quote. There are two options.
A licence to use it
Scalepoint keeps the code and you hold a licence to use it, with the option to buy the code out later.
The code becomes yours
Once you pay the build in full, you own the code.
Your data is always yours
Your customer, job and financial records belong to your business under UK GDPR, and you can export them at any time.
London-based, working with businesses across the UK.
Scalepoint is based in London and works with businesses across the UK, mostly over video calls, so you do not need to be near us. Bespoke software development in London or anywhere else in the UK follows the same process and pricing model. See how we work with London businesses.
We are also a marketing studio, so our software can record where each customer came from, and if we run your Google Ads or Meta Ads, it can feed booked jobs back to the ad platforms.
Common questions about bespoke software
How much does bespoke software cost in the UK?
It depends on scope, so we quote after discovery rather than publish a price list. A website quote calculator costs far less than a CRM with several integrations. Your quote fixes the build fee before you commit and sets out the monthly management fee in the same document. Third-party tools your build connects to, such as Slack, Stripe or an SMS provider, run on your own accounts and you pay those fees directly.
How long does a build take?
A focused tool usually takes weeks; a CRM or job system with several integrations takes longer. Your quote includes milestone dates, and you use each stage as it lands.
Why does every build include ongoing management?
Software needs looking after to keep working. Browsers update, the tools it connects to change, and your business moves on. Management keeps it hosted, monitored, secure and improving, so it still fits the way you work next year.
What happens if we stop the management?
Your quote sets out exactly what happens to hosting and to your data, before you sign anything. Your data stays yours either way.
Can it connect to Xero, QuickBooks or the tools we already use?
Usually, yes. Most mainstream tools offer an API, and we check each one during discovery, because what an API exposes varies by product and plan.
